Mate tea - the healthy, innovative combination with matchatto

Mate tea with its tart, spicy aroma has also developed into a real cult drink in Germany. This is not only due to the extraordinary preparation in the special drinking vessel - the gourd, but above all to the positive effect on health and well-being.

Here you will find out everything you need to know about the ingredients, origin and properties of the national drink in Brazil, Paraguay or Argentina.

Yerba Mate Tee

Mate - potion of the gods

Yerba Mate , or Erva Mate, as it is called in Brazil, is a species of holly (Ilex paraguariensis) native to South America, from which the leaves and sometimes also the stalks for mate tea are obtained. The natives of Latin America already appreciated the beneficial and invigorating effect of this tea. This is how the name came about: Potion of the Gods.

Because this drink combines the positive properties of tea in the form of antioxidants, coffee in the form of caffeine and chocolate in the form of theobromine, which also has a slightly stimulating effect on people.

By coupling the matein to chlorogenic acid, the caffeine has a particularly mild effect without causing nervous conditions.

In addition, the leaves of the mate tree contain many valuable vitamins and minerals.

Incidentally, the name Mate comes from the special drinking vessel, the Matí. In South American culture, the leaves of the mate tea are placed in the gourd, filled with hot water and enjoyed through a special strainer, the bombilla.

This is how mate works on the organism

Mate tea is a gentle pick-me-up. Its taste is originally earthy and, depending on the amount of tannins it contains, slightly bitter. The particularly gentle, stimulating effect comes from the unique composition of so-called xanthines. Xanthines include theobromine, caffeine and also theophylline. The special xanthine in mate tea is also called matein - similar to theine.

Studies show that the stimulating effect of mate tea is much gentler than that of other caffeinated beverages, as a slight relaxation effect occurs at the same time. There is no nervousness and the stimulating substances are released into the body only slowly. As a result, there are no withdrawal symptoms, such as B. is the case with coffee.

Mate wakes you up, promotes concentration and stimulates the mind.

Health promotion through yerba mate tea

Drinking yerba mate tea not only makes you feel awake, but also has many other positive properties, as the many valuable ingredients suggest. Mate leaves are high in vitamin A, B vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Regular consumption of this drink thus makes an important contribution to strengthening the immune system, preventing many diseases and detoxifying the body.

The antioxidants in particular ensure that the infusion of yerba mate is a true fountain of youth. Drinking mate tea regularly helps to protect the cells from signs of aging.

Yerba mate is also considered an appetite suppressant, which is why it can help with weight loss. At the same time, the absorption of blood sugar is throttled, so that mate tea has positive effects on diabetes.

The digestive system is also positively influenced by the consumption of mate.

Tolerance of mate tea

Clinical studies have shown that people who normally cannot tolerate caffeine can often still drink mate tea. You should clarify which amounts are suitable in individual cases with your doctor. If in doubt, we recommend not drinking more than one cup of yerba mate per day and paying attention to how the drink gets to you.

Whether you can drink mate before going to bed also depends on your personal tolerance of stimulating drinks. If you are unsure, you should enjoy your mate tea in the morning and drink herbal tea in the evening.

If you want to use the properties of mate as an appetite suppressant and to stimulate the metabolism, you should take the mate tea about an hour before eating.

Enjoy mate tea safely

Due to the spread of yerba mate in the world, the plant, originally native to rainforests, is increasingly available from conventional cultivation. This not only pollutes the environment, especially if this happens in monoculture, but also your health in the form of pollutants.

In our matchatto creations, we are therefore very careful to use only organically grown mate leaves. Our Erva Mate comes from Brazil, because only there are the leaves of the mate bush finely ground.

So we can use the fine powder for the extraordinary combination of mate and matcha and thus the positive effect of both products in one benefit. The tart aromas of organic mate tea harmonize perfectly with the gentle aroma of organic matcha. Order now in our online shop and discover the secret of mate and matcha.

Matchatto Mate - a special drinking experience

Under our brand name Matchatto you will now also find the extraordinary combination of mate and matcha. You don't need a mate cup to prepare it, the calabaza. Instead, you can use your favorite cup or tea bowl.

It is best to sit down in your favorite place to consciously perceive the special taste. Earthy-spicy aroma, subtle tannins, naturalness.
